4-H is a global network of youth organizations whose mission is "engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development."
JLCCS 4-H is open to all students in Grades 3-8. The club participates in community service by visiting nursing homes during December and giving out candy, gifts, or crafts. Students also learn about sewing, cooking, consumer decision making, and photography.
The club has students that serve as president, vice president, and secretary. In the spring, students collect dog and cat food and pet supplies then donate these items to the Corsicana Animal Shelter. Students have also cleaned the classrooms and school grounds for community service. Many of the students club compete at the county livestock show (Navarro County Youth Expo) by showing animals, arts and crafts, or food entries in March. Around 10-20 students participate each year.
Registration begins in August of each year and must be completed before October 31st with a cost of $20 per child. Parents may also sign up as volunteers to assist at the meetings and contests.
