School Traditions
Throughout the year JLCCS hosts a variety of fun activities for our students including these that correspond with various occasions:
50th Day of School
Our preschoolers celebrate the 50th day of school with a fun 1950s sock hop. The sock hop includes dancing, milk shakes and snacks.
Red Ribbon Week
Students throughout the school celebrate being drug free through education and fun activities including dress up days.
Grandparents Day
In order to celebrate the special relationships between children and their grandparents, JLCCS hosts an annual event in which grandparents are able to come to campus and spend time with their grandchild.
Trunk or Treat
Students annually dress up for a costume parade on Halloween through the JLCCS parking lot. Parents and volunteers provide treats and candy for students and our students can trick or treat from car to car.
All Saints Day
On All Saints Day students are able to dress up as their favorite saint and come to school.
Saint Nicholas' Day
Shoes fill the hallways as St. Nick goes through the building putting sweets and treats in our students shoes.
Advent/Epiphany
The students at JLCCS host an annual holiday event for our community. Some years we have hosted an advent musical performance at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in which our families and community are invited to attend. The school has also hosted an Epiphany celebration in which they celebrated cultures from around the world.
Christmas
Students enjoy the holiday season with the annual Christmas party on campus in which students watch the Polar Express and enjoy delicious treats.
Daddy/Daughter Dance
Our PTC hosts an annual dance for fathers and their daughters at the school. All of our young ladies love dressing up to have fun.
100th Day of School
Our Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade classes celebrate the 100th day of school by either dressing up as 100 year olds or wearing shirts that represent 100.
Mother/Son Event
Each year JLCCS puts together a Mother/Son activity in which each grade level gets to participate. Sometimes it is a fun and friendly basketball game of Moms vs. Sons or other years they have worked together to build rockets. For this upcoming year, we are planning a Mother/Son Glow Party.
Easter
In addition to celebrating the rising of our Lord, students host and participate in Easter egg hunts on campus. Throughout Lent, students participate in the stations of the cross and learn about Palm Sunday.
Clap Out
On the last day of school for our graduating class, all of our students line the halls and each eight grader is recognized and takes a final walk through the hallways while everyone claps and cheers them on.
Kindergarten Graduation
Each year our kindergarten class attends a graduation ceremony in which they celebrate their achievements for the year.
