James L. Collins Catholic School is pleased to have such an active student body. Between clubs and athletics our students are able to have a truly well-rounded education. In keeping with our school's mission statement, our students have many opportunities during the school year to perform community service. The 8th grade students are required to have at least 30 hours completed prior to graduation. Our school completes approximately 400 hours of community service a year.
Our classes visit Heritage Oaks nursing home regularly. They bring cards and help with a craft activitiess. During Catholic Schools Week, various classes go to the Corsicana Public Library, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club, and the Hope Center to help with cleaning, sorting materials, and other similar tasks. At each place, the students are able to learn how these places help serve the community.
JLCCS is proud to engage students in dialogue and practice relating to the 7 Themes of Catholic Social Teaching:
