This past CSW has been a great reminder of the importance of faith and community. Throughout CSW, our students engaged in community service activities and learned about how faith can inspire you to take a vocation. They visited the Corsicana Public Library, the Salvation Army, and Legacy Nursing Home and served others in our community. Students also focused on the importance of gratitude as they thanked volunteers, teachers, parents, and individuals in our community that help to foster an environment focused on Christ.

Our students heard from the Mayor of Corsicana, Mike Fletcher, who came to campus to present a proclamation for CSW, but he also talked about how JLCCS had shaped his life and the lives of his children who attended our school. We celebrated together as Mrs. Arnold received the Educator of the Year Award. We also welcomed back the former faculty and staff members for brunch. As they toured the school, they recognized that some of our children are second or even third generation JLCCS students.

Then we enjoyed the Battle of the Hallway Game where our seventh-grade class played against our eighth-grade class. We welcomed the Navarro College Basketball Team that played with our students in the game.

We ended CSW with several celebrations. First, we congratulated the winners of the Diocesan Art Contest:

  • Woody (1st place for 1st/2nd grade)

  • Caraline (2nd place for 3rd/4th grade)

  • Becky (honorable mention for 3rd/4th grade)

  • Angelia (1st place for 5th/6th grade)

Finally, we participated in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest, and we want to congratulate: Ava , Benjamin , Eli , and Kate on winning their divisions.

Our Read-a-thon also concluded this week. We raised over $2,300 for our library and logged over 6,800 minutes. Congratulations to our Read-A-thon Winners:

  • Class with the most money raised - third grade.

  • Class with the most minutes read - sixth grade.

  • Top Fundraiser - Hudson

  • Top Reader - Madeleine
